About the Project
This graduation shoot was designed to reflect Preston’s personality, quirky and “odd” but confident, while still capturing a sense of transition and growth.
Instead of traditional graduation portraits, I leaned into unconventional composition and perspective. Wide-angle lenses and low shooting positions exaggerate scale and distortion, making Preston feel larger-than-life in some frames and intentionally off-balance in others. This creates a playful tension that mirrors his personality.
The locations were chosen for their texture and structure to contrast his movement and styling. Posing was kept loose and expressive rather than formal, allowing moments to feel natural and slightly unexpected.
Golden hour lighting was used to soften the environment and unify the series, giving warmth to images that are otherwise experimental in composition. The result is a set of portraits that feel personal, cinematic, and distinctly his.
